Our Company
Advisory work built around what organisations actually need to know
Suria Advisory was formed because most AI conversations begin with what a technology can do — not with whether an organisation is ready for it.

How Suria Advisory came to exist
Suria Advisory was established in Petaling Jaya by a small group of practitioners who had spent several years in technology consulting and organisational change work across the Klang Valley and wider Southeast Asia. What prompted the founding was not enthusiasm for AI — it was the observation that most organisations approaching AI lacked a clear way to assess their actual readiness for it.
The conversations that led to our formation were consistent: organisations were receiving proposals from vendors before anyone had asked whether their data was in order, whether their governance could accommodate new disclosure obligations, or whether their teams were positioned to absorb the change. The advisory gap was not technical — it was structural and strategic.
We set out to fill that gap in a specific way: with bounded, written engagements that produce documents an organisation owns and can act on, without creating dependency on continued consulting relationships. The name Suria — meaning sunlight — reflects a simple idea: clarity, brought to a subject that often generates more heat than light.
Today we work with mid-market companies, government-linked entities, and professional services organisations across Malaysia. Our engagements are small by design, and we take on a limited number of clients at any time in order to be genuinely useful to each of them.
Our Mission
"To help Malaysian organisations understand their AI situation clearly — and to move forward at a pace that serves them, not the market."
- Founded in Petaling Jaya, Selangor
- Three focused service engagements
- No platform affiliations
- Written deliverables in every engagement

How We Work
Standards we hold ourselves to
Written clarity in all deliverables
Every engagement concludes with a written document. No findings left in a presentation deck, no conclusions requiring a follow-on call to understand.
Client confidentiality
All information shared during an engagement is treated with strict confidentiality. We do not reference client work in our marketing without explicit written permission.
Independence from vendors
We hold no commercial relationships with AI platform providers. Our assessments are structured around what we find in your organisation, not what we are incentivised to recommend.
Personal Data Protection Act compliance
Our data handling practices align with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. Client data is retained only for as long as necessary to deliver and support the engagement.
Scoped, bounded engagements
Each engagement begins with a clear scope note. We do not expand work without your agreement, and we do not allow open-ended engagements to drift into dependency.
Candour as a professional duty
We name what is not working as clearly as what is. A candid assessment that saves an organisation from a poorly-timed AI investment is more valuable than a comfortable one.
Our Practice
AI advisory for organisations that take their decisions seriously
Suria Advisory is a specialist firm serving Malaysian organisations navigating the practical complexities of AI adoption. Our advisory practice covers three interconnected areas: organisational readiness, use-case assessment, and governance policy — each delivered as a bounded engagement with written outputs your team can act on independently.
Our work draws on experience across financial services, manufacturing, professional services, and public-sector bodies in Malaysia and the broader ASEAN region. We bring familiarity with Malaysia's regulatory environment — including obligations under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and Bank Negara Malaysia's risk management frameworks — alongside an understanding of how AI adoption actually plays out in organisations with varying levels of data maturity.
Where other advisory firms begin with capability demonstrations or platform selections, we begin with your organisation's actual situation: the state of your data, the maturity of your governance, the capacity of your teams, and the specific operational problems you are trying to address. From that foundation, we offer a written perspective on what is worth pursuing, what requires preparation first, and what should be deferred.
Suria Advisory does not offer implementation services, managed AI deployments, or ongoing retainer relationships. We believe the most useful thing an advisory firm can do is leave an organisation informed and capable of making its own decisions — not reliant on us to make them.
