Why Suria Advisory
Advisory that serves your organisation — not its own continuation
Most consulting relationships are structured to renew. Ours are structured to conclude, with your organisation holding a clear document and a clearer position.

Advantages that matter to careful organisations
These are not marketing claims — they are structural features of how we work, built into every engagement from the outset.
Written output, every time
Every engagement concludes with a document — not a Zoom call summary.
No platform affiliations
Our assessments carry no commercial relationships with AI vendors.
Malaysian regulatory context
We work within Malaysian law — PDPA 2010, BNM frameworks, and local governance norms.
Engagements that end
We do not build ongoing dependency into our engagements by design.
Honest when the answer is no
We name use cases not worth pursuing with the same care as those that are.
Cross-functional fluency
We work across legal, HR, operations and technology — where AI policy decisions are actually made.
Expertise
Practitioners who have done this kind of work before
The Suria Advisory team brings direct experience in technology strategy, data governance, legal compliance, and organisational change across Malaysian and regional organisations. We are not career academics reading AI research, nor are we implementation engineers who have moved into advisory. We have led governance reviews, sat in the rooms where AI adoption decisions were made, and written the documents that survived those decisions.
- Cross-sector experience across financial services, manufacturing, and professional services
- Familiarity with Malaysia's PDPA 2010 and Bank Negara risk frameworks
- Direct workshop facilitation experience with cross-functional leadership teams
Process
A structured approach that respects your time
Each of our three engagements follows a consistent process: a brief discovery phase where we read what you share and listen carefully, an assessment phase where we apply our analytical framework, and a delivery phase where we present and explain our written findings. We do not run open-ended discovery phases that stretch indefinitely. The scope is agreed before we begin, and we hold to it.
- Scope note agreed in writing before any engagement begins
- Clear milestones: discovery, assessment, written delivery
- No scope creep without your explicit agreement
Service
Communication that works at the pace of considered thinking
We respond to queries within two Malaysian business days. We do not use automated response systems or offshore support. Every communication you receive from Suria Advisory is written by someone actively working on your engagement. We prefer written correspondence to calls, because it creates a record that is useful later — but we will speak by phone or in person when that serves the work better.
- Two business-day response standard for all enquiries
- Direct communication with the practitioner doing the work
- No account managers standing between you and the adviser
Value
Transparent pricing for bounded, defined work
Our three engagement fees are fixed and published: RM 890 for an AI Readiness Conversation, RM 2,720 for Practical Use-Case Advisory, and RM 1,290 for a Governance and Policy Workshop. There are no variable fees, no additional charges for document revisions within scope, and no surprise invoices. The fee you see is the fee you pay.
- Fixed fees published in advance — no retainer creep
- No additional charges for revisions within scope
- Invoice issued on engagement commencement, not on continuing relationship
Results
Decisions your organisation is better equipped to make
The measure of our work is whether your organisation leaves an engagement clearer than it arrived. That means a leadership team that understands its AI readiness position, or a set of use cases with honest assessments of feasibility and cost, or a governance policy your own people wrote and can defend. These are tangible outcomes. We do not measure success by the length of our engagement or the size of our invoice.
- Tangible written outputs in every engagement
- Leadership teams who understand, not just receive, the findings
- Policy documents your own people own and can ratify
A Considered Comparison
How our approach differs from typical AI consulting
| What to consider | Typical AI consulting | Suria Advisory |
|---|---|---|
| Platform or vendor recommendations | Often affiliated with one or more platforms |
No platform affiliations — assessment follows the work |
| Written deliverables | Slide decks and verbal briefings, frequently |
Written report in every engagement, without exception |
| Scope transparency | Open-ended discovery can expand fees materially |
Fixed fees, scope note agreed before any work begins |
| Malaysian regulatory knowledge | Often a global template applied without local adaptation |
PDPA 2010, BNM frameworks, Selangor/KL governance context |
| Direct access to the adviser | Account managers handle client communication |
You communicate directly with the practitioner doing the work |
| Willingness to say "not yet" | Financial incentives favour recommending adoption |
We name what should wait as clearly as what should proceed |
Distinctive Qualities
What sets our practice apart
The advisory report as a complete artefact
Our reports are written to be understood without us in the room. They do not require a follow-up briefing to interpret, and they do not depend on a slide transition to carry meaning. An organisation should be able to hand our readiness note to a new board member six months later and have it remain legible.
A genuinely cross-functional lens
Many AI advisory practices are technically led — they assess what is possible and leave the governance and change management questions to others. We address feasibility, regulatory exposure, workforce readiness, and data governance in the same engagement, because these questions are not separable in practice.
The workshop policy that belongs to your organisation
The AI governance policy produced in our workshop is drafted by your own people, facilitated by us. It is not a template we hand over with your name inserted. A policy your legal and HR teams wrote together is one they will defend and maintain — which is the only kind worth having.
Sequencing that reflects actual organisational readiness
Our use-case advisory produces a sequenced portfolio — use cases ordered by readiness, not by technical interest. An organisation that cannot yet manage its data at the required quality should not be designing AI systems that depend on that data. We name that, and we suggest what to address first.
